Michigan is a direct access state for physical therapy, which means you do not need a physician referral to start therapy. You can be treated for 10 visits or 21 days (whichever comes first) without a signed prescription. Many insurance providers still require a signed prescription, so if you intend to submit for reimbursement, I recommend calling your insurance provider for details on your policy. It is always a good idea to keep your physician informed on any physical complaints you are experiencing.
I am a licensed physical therapist in the state of Michigan, I am in-network with Medicare, out-of-network with all other insurers. My services can be submitted, by you, to your insurance company for potential reimbursement based on your out-of-network physical therapy benefits. I will provide you with a superbill (an invoice), which can be submitted to your insurance company. Reimbursement varies based on individual policies and needs, I cannot guarantee reimbursement from your insurance company. You can also use your FSA or HSA account for physical therapy services.
I choose to not participate with most insurance companies so that I am able to provide the highest quality of care based your complaints, your goals and your needs--not insurance limitations. Concierge care goes beyond just your session--you will have access to email communications, exercise programs, self-care tools. Remember this is one-on-one care, never with a tech or a PTA or another PT, I want to create the most customized care for your case.
Unfortunately, insurance companies have continued to decrease reimbursement and are creating more limitations on how visits and care are utilized. They are requiring more time from providers to justify care, which takes more time away from patients. By not participating the focus can truly be based on the patient needs.
Many policies have high deductibles, resulting in high costs for patients, who often only see the therapist for 15-30 min of one-on-one time. There can be surprise denials and surprise bills months after care. I want your costs to be as transparent as possible and to be able to focus on your goals, not what insurance will cover.
I want healthcare to be affordable and accessible to everyone, which is why I am proud to partner with care credit to offer affordable financing options. Click the link to learn more about care credit plans.
